What it’s for

Moves stock from one place to another: between warehouses, between stores, or between a warehouse and a store. What leaves one side enters the other, in a single operation.

The transfers on record.
The transfers on record.

Why it’s not done by hand

You could subtract from one warehouse and add to the other with two movements. But if something fails in between, the merchandise ends up duplicated or missing.

The transfer does both things as a single operation: either it all goes through or nothing does. And it leaves a single record that explains the movement on both sides.

Things worth knowing

It’s not just between warehouses. You can also transfer from a warehouse to a store (to stock it), from a store back to the warehouse, and between stores. In simple mode, without separate warehouses, the option left is transferring between stores — it only disappears if the business has a single location, because there’s nothing to move between there.

You can’t transfer more than what’s there. The system stops it.

To fix a mistaken transfer, do the reverse transfer. Both stay on record, which is correct.
